Desktop high-energy x-rays illuminant systems appeared
According to the American physicists organization nets reported, an international research team had developed a miniature synchronous accelerate high-energy x-ray illuminant system. The x-ray source’s efficiency and quality equal to the greatest medical x-ray machine, and its miniature, cheap and high quality of characteristics will have extensively application prospect.
The new equipment researched by the British imperial college London, Michigan state university and the university of Lisbon, Portugal, higher institute of technology scientists, it can realize many function of current huge laser equipment. Their Micrographics system adopt a miniature helium jet and a kind of high energy laser, is a kind of only pencil degree of ultra short wave high-energy space coherent X-ray beam.
The first author of paper, imperial college London, physics department Dr Christina kenai said, we have taken the first step in producing concise, cheap, high-energy and quality medical x-ray. With the relatively simple system produce the high quality X-ray beam which within few mm, can equal to the one produced by hundreds of meters long synchrotron accelerate device. Although our technology can’t compete directly with few large x-ray source at present, but it offer an important method of application for the current some difficult detection.
The researchers say, such system has many use like high-energy x-ray, it eventually can greatly improve the resolution of medical image, more easily to detect wing joints having micro cracks and use to explore special application too, which can research "freeze" movement in a very short time.
