Xi urges development fruits to people
NANNING - Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said Sunday that the Communist Party of China (CPC) will spare no pains to ensure all Chinese people share in the fruits of China's social and economic development.
Xi made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to a special conference of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), which was hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee in Nanning, capital city of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The conference was held under the theme,"Development and People's Access: Deliver the Fruits of Development to the People."
Xi said, in spite of the prosperous development of Asia, it is still a major task for all political parties, governments and people of Asian countries to transform the pattern of economic development and promote a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable economic and social development.
He called on political parties of Asian nations to give equal attention to both speed and quality, fairness and efficiency in their development, and incorporate the economic development with the improvement of people's living conditions, so as to ensure all of the people share in the fruits of the development.
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, Xi said, at the new starting point in history, the CPC will always take economic construction as the central task and the Scientific Outlook on Development as the main theme.
The CPC will make every effort to promote the equal access to basic public services and ensure that the development is for the people, by the people and its benefit should be shared by the people, he said.
Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the ICAPP special conference.
In the keynote speech, he said as a member of Asian community, China's prosperity is closely linked to the prosperous development of Asia.
As a developing country, China still has a long way to go in achieving common prosperity for its entire 1.3 billion population, he noted.
He said China will continue to uphold the spirit of sharing prosperity and making progress together with other Asian countries, and to be their good neighbor, good partner and good friend forever.
The CPC has always attached great importance to the friendly cooperation with other Asian political parties, Zhou said.
To deepen communication and cooperation, he suggested that Asian political parties should promote friendship, safeguard common interests, share development experiences and expand exchanges.
Secretary-General of the United Nation Ban Ki-moon made a video address for the conference, wishing it a complete success.
The Asia-Pacific region is experiencing profound changes, he said, adding that the region continues to maintain robust economic growth is critically important for narrowing the gap of development and achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos- Horta, Laotian Vice President Bounnang Vorachit, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An, Chairman of the ICAPP Jose De Venecia and Party chief of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Guo Shengkun also addressed the opening ceremony.
